Events/Training

With our crowded timetables and the high-pressured educational environments that we find ourselves in, it can sometimes be difficult to know where to begin, or how to go about it. I am based in Derbyshire, and work with a variety of educators to help them to build their confidence or tweak their thinking to be more outdoor orientated. I aim to help to make outdoor literacy feel accessible as something that can become an integral, sustainable and vibrant part of your teaching.

I also run outdoor literacy sessions for Key Stage 2 children at your setting, or in a woodland setting provided by me. These sessions are usually booked in six week blocks but I can be flexible.

Derbyshire Forest Schools Day

I will be running a workshop at the annual Derbyshire Forest Schools Day on Wednesday 17th June.

Sticks and Stories

This course will take place in Derbyshire woodland. The day will include: examining how natural resources can be used to generate ideas for literacy, looking at how outdoor learning can engage and encourage reluctant writers, and creating imaginative scenarios as starting points for writing. It will also look at how the activities in the woods can be transferred to your school grounds.

The day will mostly be spent outside, so participants will need to ensure that they are appropriately attired.

Dates to be confirmed

Subject to availability, I am able to come to your setting to deliver staff training. Please feel free to contact me with your enquiry.
